Patricia Hernandez was named Senior Executive Assistant to the Aviation Director in December 2018. In her role, Ms. Hernandez is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Office of the Director.

Ms. Hernandez has served Miami-Dade County for 18 years, most recently with the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) as the Department’s Legislative and Municipal Affairs Special Assistant.  She has an abundance of administrative experience and over 14 years of legislative experience. During her tenure as WASD's Legislative and Municipal Affairs Assistant, Patricia managed the agenda coordination process for the Department’s complex and technical legislative portfolio. Throughout her career at WASD, she was consistently tasked with special assignments in addition to her everyday legislative duties. Most notably, in concert with other County departments and as authorized by County ordinance, she spearheaded the Department's efforts to accelerate approval by the Board of County Commissioners for certain capital projects. She also organized and led a countywide effort to raise funds for the "Water for People" organization, which resulted in the construction of a small water system in central Honduras.

Prior to joining Miami-Dade County, Ms. Hernandez was employed by several local engineering firms including Montgomery Watson of Americas, Inc., which gave her direct private sector experience with the County. Before relocating to Miami, Ms. Hernandez worked for the IBM Corporation in the Washington, D.C. area for 10 years, where she acquired valuable, diverse experience working with federal agencies.

Ms. Hernandez earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Georgetown University.
