The Roaring Twenties and Thirties in Miami Beach
Commercial photographer Claude Matlack worked in Miami and Miami Beach between 1918 and 1942. He was especially busy during the “Roaring Twenties,” when he photographed everything and everyone from flappers to tin can tourists.
The roaring Twenties and Thirties in Miami Beach

The Claude Matlack Collection contains about 7,000 photographs, primarily of places and people in Miami Beach, Miami, Florida Keys, Tamiami Trail, and the Everglades area, and to a lesser extent, of Fort Lauderdale, the Bahamas, and Fort Jefferson. A selection form this collection which includes people at beaches and recreational boats and boating is on view here.
