Accessible Transit Pickup (ATP) Doors

The Aviation Department has designated doors to assist patrons in coordinating pick-up and drop-off locations with STS (Paratransit/Special Transportation Services).

ADA Access Committee

The ADA Access Committee is comprised of a group of volunteers who, in conjunction with Aviation Department and airport staff, work toward improving accessibility to programs and services at the Miami International Airport.  These meetings are open to the public.  The quarterly meeting schedule for 2008 is as follows: January 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., April 16, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., July 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., October 15, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.  The ADA Access Committee meetings are held at the MIA Auditorium located on the 4th Floor of Concourse A. For additional information, please contact Monica Beltran at mbeltran@miami-airport.com or Rosie Leslie at rleslie@miami-airport.com

Paging System

MIA offers visual paging for the hearing impaired. The system is currently operational at the U.S. Customs exit at Concourse B and at Concourse E on the ticketing level. Additional locations will be added throughout the MIA terminal as flight display systems are upgraded.

Parking

Designated disabled permit parking and stroller permit parking is conveniently located near the moving sidewalks on the 3rd level of the garages. Additional disabled permit parking, including van accessible spaces, are available on the easternmost ground level sections of the Dolphin and Flamingo garages.  Disabled permit and stroller permit parking, including van accessible spaces, are also located in both, the upper and lower short-term parking lots.

Moving Walkways

Moving walkways are located on the third level and connect the main terminal and parking garages. These walkways span the length of the terminal building, allowing passengers to quickly transit from concourse to concourse.

Public Telephones

MIA has TTY telephones at selected telephone banks throughout the terminal.  At telephone banks where there is not a TTY, you will find directions to the closest TTY location.  For additional TTY information, please call (305) 876-0594. Passengers may also dial 7-1-1 from any phone to contact the Florida Relay Service.

Restaurants at MIA

All snack bars and full-service restaurants are wheelchair accessible.

Restrooms

Restrooms located throughout the terminal feature toilet compartments for the disabled.  Unisex restrooms equipped for the disabled are also available throughout the terminal.  Look for the internationally recognized disabled symbol.

Service Animal Relief

MIA has a dual surface service animal relief area located at the arrival level at Concourse E. Additional service animal relief locations, including an upper level location, are scheduled to be added by December 2007.  Information will be updated upon completion.

Taxicab Service

Taxis are available with wheelchair lifts. Patrons in need of this service should request an equipped taxi upon arrival at the ground level curbside area. Please allow a reasonable amount of additional time to call an equipped vehicle from the holding lot, located just outside the terminal area.  Drivers will assist patrons with baggage.

Shared-Ride Van Service

SuperShuttle shared-ride vans are available with wheelchair lifts. Passengers seeking to reserve a wheelchair lift-equipped shared-ride van may contact SuperShuttle at 305-871-2000, or see the curbside representative at the Ground Transportation kiosk to request an accessible van. Please allow a reasonable amount of additional time to call an equipped vehicle from the holding area, located just outside the airport. Drivers will assist patrons with baggage.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchair service is offered through your air carrier upon request. To ensure availability and timely service, it is strongly recommended that this service be reserved in advance.  However, wheelchair assistance may also be requested at airline ticket counters.

Security Restrictions

Security measures at MIA restrict public access beyond passenger screening points to ticketed passengers only.  However, the individual airline may grant permission for persons with special needs to be accompanied by a health care assistant or guardian. If someone wishes to accompany an elderly or disabled person to or from an aircraft gate, they must obtain permission from the airline.
