Nancy B. Pantoja assumed the role of Division Director for Civil Environmental Engineering in 2017, responsible for the planning, design and construction of airport infrastructure facilities, airfield pavements, water distribution systems, sanitary sewer, storm water drainage, fuel storage/distribution and contamination/remediation systems. Ms. Pantoja oversees the Airport Civil Engineering section, as well as the Asbestos Compliance, Environmental Engineering and Fuel System Administration sections of the Civil Environmental Engineering Division. Previously, Ms. Pantoja was vice president of a major engineering firm, where she was responsible for business development, contract negotiations and project management of infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients in the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean.

Ms. Pantoja joined the Aviation Department in 1994 as an engineer within the Environmental and Airport Engineering Division, and later served as Chief of the Aviation Civil Engineering Section from 1995 to 2007. As Chief, she directed and supervised professional engineering firms in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of airport infrastructure facilities projects, including runways, taxiways and aprons, aircraft fueling, roadways, water distribution systems, sanitary sewer systems, storm water distribution and treatment facilities.

Prior to joining the Aviation Department, Ms. Pantoja served as a civil engineer for the City of Miami Public Works Department, beginning in 1989. Her responsibilities included the design and preparation of construction plans and specifications for a variety of large and complex street, bridge and drainage projects. Ms. Pantoja began her career in civil engineering in 1984 as a project engineer and chief estimator for a major construction engineering firm in South Florida, where her responsibilities included the management and supervision of all construction activities.

Ms. Pantoja is a registered professional engineer with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Florida International University and a certificate in professional project management from Florida International University.
