American Airlines passengers can now schedule their TSA checkpoint screening time at Miami International Airport with MIA Reserve, a free reservation service for passengers ﬂying out of Miami.
During the limited-time pilot program, reservations are available daily from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Checkpoint 4, for American Airlines passengers.
Reservations are limited and available up to 72 hours before your flight, so reserve your spot early to get the appointment time you prefer.
1. Sign up at mia.whyline.com up to 72 hours before your ﬂight or when you arrive at MIA.
2. Select American Airlines and enter your destination, ﬂight number, full name, number of people in your party, and contact information to reserve your spot.
3. Once you’re at MIA, remember to check your bags or complete any additional check-ins before your appointment time.
4. Go to Checkpoint 4 near Door 7 and show the checkpoint staff your MIA Reserve QR code so they can direct you to your lane
What times and where can I use MIA Reserve?
MIA Reserve is available daily from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. only at Checkpoint 4 for all American Airlines ﬂights. Appointments are available up to 60 minutes before domestic flights and up to 90 minutes before international flights. We recommend booking up to 72 hours in advance of your ﬂight, because spots are limited.
How do I use MIA Reserve?
Schedule your appointment up to 72 hours before your scheduled departure OR sign up upon arrival at the airport. You'll receive a QR code by email that you can use when you arrive at your scheduled time. (Include QR code to pangiam/whyline link).
What is MIA Reserve? How does it work?
MIA Reserve is a pilot program appointment system for security screening. It has a shared designated lane at TSA Checkpoint 4. All you need to do is reserve your spot and show up at your assigned appointment time.
Which airlines and security checkpoints are participating in the MIA Reserve pilot program?
Currently, the MIA Reserve virtual queue program is only available at Checkpoint 4 for departing American Airlines passengers.
I’m connecting at MIA. Do I need to use the virtual queue?
No. MIA Reserve is optional for departing and connecting passengers with American Airlines.
Can I use MIA Reserve if I have TSA PreCheck?
No. MIA Reserve is only available to general screening passengers to help provide a better screening experience for those without a trusted traveler program. All TSA PreCheck passengers flying American Airlines are screened at Checkpoint 1 to receive their PreCheck beneﬁts, such as not having to remove their shoes and electronics.
Is MIA Reserve free?
Yes, it’s completely free! There is no account or membership required.
I want to use MIA Reserve, but appointment times are currently unavailable. What do I do?
MIA Reserve appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations can be made up to 72 hours before your ﬂight. Slots are available up to 60 minutes before American Airlines domestic flights and up to 90 minutes before American Airlines International flights.
I didn’t make an appointment in advance. Can I still use the virtual queue?
Yes! When you arrive at Checkpoint 4, you will see virtual queue signs featuring a QR code, which you can scan on your smartphone to set up an appointment.
What’s the grace period for my MIA Reserve appointment?
We offer a grace period of 10 minutes per appointment time, so you may arrive at the queue line any time within the 10-minute window of your appointment. If you arrive more than 10 minutes past your appointment time, you may enter through the regular queue lanes.
I’m traveling with a group. Can we book an MIA Reserve appointment together?
Yes! Passengers traveling with a group may book on behalf of the other passengers in their traveling party by specifying the total party size during the reservation process. The maximum group size eligible to enter under one appointment is 10 passengers.
What information is required to book an MIA Reserve appointment?
There is no account registration or login required. Passengers utilizing the service will be asked to select the date of departure, destination airport, American Airlines flight number, party size, and an email to receive the appointment confirmation with the QR code.
Can I cancel or change my MIA Reserve appointment?
Yes. After you’ve made your initial appointment, you will be able to access the confirmation email that contains an option to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
I didn't get a confirmation email for my MIA Reserve appointment. What do I do?
When signing up, make sure that your email is typed correctly, and remember to check your inbox's junk or spam folders.
Help! I'm not seeing my flight as an option on MIA Reserve.
Make sure to check that the time, date, and flight number are all correct when signing up for your appointment. MIA Reserve is currently only available for departing American Airlines passengers. We recommend booking up to 72 hours in advance of your flight.
