In 2024:
- MIA reached a new record of 55.9 million passengers, a 7% increase over 2023;
- On average, 152,805 passengers traveled through MIA daily – that’s 9,400 additional passengers per day compared to 2023;
- 55% of those travelers flew on a domestic flight, while 45% traveled internationally.
- A total of 61 passenger carriers offered nonstop service to 195 destinations to/from MIA;
- MIA ranks in the top 10 US airports in passengers and is the second-busiest US airport for international travelers (2023 ACI Rankings).

The Air Service Development team works directly with partner airlines to drive interest in new air service offerings, including for outbound travel. Below are some of the ways MIA helps its airline partners to promote their routes.
- MIA Discover: our user-friendly website lets travelers research any MIA destination, select travel dates and book flights directly with carriers.
- MIA partners with Greater Miami’s official destination marketing organization, the GMCVB, to provide marketing and promotional support incentives to new entrant carriers.
- In-terminal Inaugural Events: MIA works in tandem with partner airlines to develop tailor-made gate events that build buzz around new air service across social, traditional and trade media, and engage our passengers.

- 24/7 U.S. Customs staffing
- No slot restrictions
- Dedicated Global Entry kiosks and lanes in the North and South Terminals
- Mobile Passport Control in all terminals for qualifying travelers
- Biometric Facial Comparison Technology offered to all international arriving passengers in all terminals; currently offered to international departing passengers at most gates in the South and Central Terminals and expanding to the North Terminal

MIA is investing $9 billion in capital improvements to accommodate continued passenger/cargo growth and improve the passenger experience. Improvements include the expansion of the South Terminal, modernization of the Central Terminal and multiple infrastructure upgrades. Work is also under way on a new luxury hotel, new parking garage, new passenger boarding bridges and renovated restrooms.
