Harlem Renaissance: A Cultural Explosion!

Miami International Airport’s MIA Galleries in collaboration with Miami-Dade County Public Schools Division of Life Skills & Special Projects.
The Harlem Renaissance was an intellectual and cultural revival of African American literature, music, visual and performing arts. African American artists developed their own styles based on Black aesthetic traditions from Africa to folk art and took control of the representation of their people and the negative images prevalent in the visual arts. This exhibition challenges students to think and reinvent new aesthetics as it relates to contemporary events and issues.
