Heliotropic Seekers: Currents of Passage

On view through January 10, 2027

Heliotropic Seekers: Currents of Passage is a site-specific installation composed of suspended, colored plexiglass silhouettes of reef species that move through the vitrines as a shifting, layered environment. Inspired by the migratory patterns of marine life and the ocean currents that guide them, Chachamovits’s work considers movement as both navigation and transformation.

Installed within a transit space, the composition echoes the flow of bodies through the airport—arrivals, departures, and crossings. The suspended forms gather into a continuous field, where color, shadow, and overlap create a sense of collective movement rather than fixed direction.

Activated by light and reflection, the installation shifts throughout the day, revealing moments of density and transparency. The work presents a reef not as a fixed place, but as an ecosystem in motion—one that exists through passage, connection, and continual change.
