ROUGHING IT UP: Tactile + Surface = Texture!

Miami International Airport’s MIA Galleries in collaboration with Miami-Dade County Public Schools Division of Life Skills & Special Projects.
Texture is defined by the feel, appearance, or consistency of a surface or a substance. All artists use texture in one form or another. Texture can be incorporated into a work or implied through various painting and drawing techniques. Introduced to artists Vincent van Gogh, Marcia Gygli, Anselm Kiefer, Justin Gaffrey, J.M.W. Turner, Terese Agne, Jane Perkins, Mickalene Thomas, and many more, students experimented with texture through various processes, techniques, and tools to create different textures in their creative work.
