MIA Galleries Recent Acquisitions

MIA Galleries Recent Acquisitions features fourteen artworks acquired through MIA Galleries, the arts & exhibitions program at Miami International Airport. In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, an acquisition initiative to purchase existing works was created to support Miami-Dade County visual artists.


The artists featured in this exhibition include Addonis Parker, Amalia Caputo, Annick Duvivier, Cara Despain, Carol Jazzar, Christina Pettersson, Ian Patrick O’Connor, Luján Candria, Maria Theresa Barbist, Monica López de Victoria, Najja Moon, Regina Jestrow, Silvia Ros, and Tom Virgin. In addition, a selection of letter prints by the latter artist features artwork created by local visual artists, such as Adler Guerrier, Michelle Weinberg, Laura Tan, and Pip Brant.


All works were created between 2017 – 2020 and include paintings, photographs, and works on paper that contemplate the beauty and precariousness of our local landscape and our natural resources. Some of these works focus on current demographics, identity, and societal concerns.


These acquisitions will now join other works in the MIA Galleries collection displayed throughout the airport and continue MIA Galleries' mission to connect travelers and residents to our region's artists, and by extension, to stories and places of pride in South Florida.
